Rathgar period residence

It is a unique responsibility that comes with modifying an historic home.

When we were tasked with updating this noteworthy Arts and Crafts style residence in Rathgar Dublin, our goal was clear, honour the rich, handcrafted architectural heritage, while infusing the space with modern comfort and tailored elegance; all while meeting the design brief from the client.

The Arts and Craft movement celebrates natural materials, clean lines and exquisite craftsmanship, so to compliment the period features in such a house we focused heavily on fabrics that we felt would soften the spaces without competing with the overall feel of the house.

Some of the windows required bespoke poles which needed to be carefully crafted to frame the shape of the window. The fabrics were thoughtfully selected to dress the expansive windows in each room which added a layer of texture, colour and warmth.

To ensure a seamless visual flow throughout the space, we commissioned custom upholstered furniture and soft furnishings using fabrics tailored to complement the colour scheme.
